What is the character of God? | Got Questions | Published 2020

According to the Bible, Jesus is God in the flesh, the Son of God, one with the Father, pre-existed creation, Savior, King of kings and Lord of lords, has all authority in heaven and on earth, and will judge everyone, the living and the dead.

What is the character of God?

MY NOTES AND KEY ELEMENTS:
  • Perhaps the most outstanding feature of God’s character is that He is a loving Father to all believers. He cares for those who trust in him.
  • God is light. In him there is no darkness at all.
  • God is rightious. He exists in a state of moral perfection: God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
  • God is love. So great is God’s love for us that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
  • God is faithful. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
  • God is truthful. We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ.
  • God is patient and longsuffering. He is slow to anger, dealing patiently with rebellious sinners.
